This historic project received Site Plan approval from the South Brunswick Township in April 2009. We are now in the second round of design and cost-estimating for this $4.5 million project.

A team of community volunteers has begun meeting and planning our full Capital Fundraising Campaign. As the Campaign Committee moves forward we’ll begin the “quiet phase” of the Capital Campaign - seeking the support of individual major donors in the community. Toward the end of 2009 and early 2010 we’ll begin a community-wide fundraising campaign seeking gifts from the community at large, corporations, small businesses and foundations. We expect to break ground midyear 2010.

As of July 2009 we have been awarded a $3 million grant and generated $100,000 in individual pledges and gifts toward our fundraising goal. The YMCA Board of Directors and Y staff are committed to taking on this challenge. Currently there is no full-sized swimming facility in southern Middlesex County. We need a space where children can learn to swim, where families can gather and swim safely, where athletes can train and where seniors can build their strength and mobility, staying fit and active longer. This summer alone more than 600 kids are using our indoor teaching pool for lessons and an additional 250 summer campers swim on a weekly basis. The pool is also used on a daily basis for adult aquatics fitness classes, lessons and open swim times.

Our vision will only be realized with your support and we need your help – our members, volunteers and the local communities – to make this project a reality.

In addition to your financial support, which is welcome at any time and may be payable over 3 years, we’re in need volunteers to help us plan and organize the capital campaign/events; introduce us to individuals, corporations and foundation that we can approach for support; hold fundraising meetings at their home, business or office; help with personal solicitations; and so much more.
