• CIT & Mad Science Camps • Counselor-In-Training Program This is a leadership program that prepares teens to become counselors. This program creates an opportunity for 14 and 15 year olds to develop leadership and job skills. Teens who love children will thrive in this selective camping experience. Potential CIT’s should complete an application available at our Welcome Center. Successful CITs will have an opportunity to apply for employment as a summer camp counselor when they become 16. The CIT program runs for nine weeks and applicants must make a 6 week commitment. • Week 4 – Radical Reactions & Detective Science July 14 - July 18 In this weeklong program, campers will have tons of fun mixing up potions and experimenting with all kinds of chemical reactions! Our young chemists will grow crystals, create sidewalk chalk, and even make chromatography T-Shirts to take home. Students will also become science sleuths as they investigate how chemistry provides evidence at the scene of a crime. During this hands-on detective work, children will gather & test “crime scene” clues, make & analyze their own fingerprints, make Rainbow Stompers & much more. • Week 9 - Mad Machines & Junior Engineers August 18 – 22 Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both! The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build bridges and “skyscrapers” using simple tools and their imaginations. Children will discover how many different machines, simple & complex, we use in our daily lives. After the simple machines, we move on to fun with the Mad Science robots! We’ll play robot soccer, test line-tracking robots, and help our team direct our sound activated robots around an obstacle course, all the while learning the science of robotics! |
